National Stammering Clinical Excellence Network (CEN) Pre-Conference Workshop - Oxford Stuttering and Cluttering Research Conference

We are delighted to announce the National Stammering CEN will host a workshop at St Catherine’s College, Oxford in advance of the Oxford Stuttering and Cluttering Research Conference.

Special Guest Speaker – Dr Derek E. Daniels, Wayne State University, USA - Identity, Stigma and Intersectionality for Individuals who Stammer: Theory, Research and Clinical practice.

The day will run from 9:30am to 4:30pm.

Costs £55 and will include lunch and tea/coffee.

NOTE: Registration for the Oxford Stuttering and Cluttering Research Conference is not a pre-requisite to attend.

Dr Derek. E. Daniels is an associate professor and graduate program director for the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology). He is a licensed and certified speech-language pathologist who specializes in stuttering, and has presented locally, nationally, and internationally on stuttering. His research focuses on public perceptions of stuttering, and factors that influence the psychosocial experiences of individuals who stutter. He is particularly interested in identity, stigma, intersectionality, self-help groups, and culturally responsive practices for individuals who stutter. Dr. Daniels has participated in many self-help events, workshops, and clinical training programs for people who stutter. He is a former President of the Michigan Speech-Language-Hearing Association. In 2023, he received the Professional of the Year Award from the National Stuttering Association for his scholarly and community-service contributions to the stuttering community.
